In 1946, after being demobilised from the armed forces after World War II, Brothers Ernest and Edward acquired a Joiners and Undertakers in Holme. This was the beginning of the Duckett business and both the joinery workshop and undertakers are still based in the village today.

In 1963 Brian Duckett, keen to follow in his father's footsteps, started work as an apprentice joiner and Edward Duckett & Son was launched, beginning work on a large residential development in Holme, Cumbria.

The business of today

We have continued to expand since then and in 1999 Brian set up Duckett Building Services. His vision was to provide high standards of construction, workmanship and customer service, whilst retaining a family and local workforce at the core of the business.

At Duckett Building Services we now employ over 30 permanent tradespeople, incorporating Duckett Plumbing and Heating and Duckett bespoke Joinery.

No matter what project we're working on, we always want to do the best job possible and never rest until the job is right.

This approach continues to stand us in good stead, as can be seen by the list of high profile projects over the recent years including extensive restoration works for the National Trust on a number of Beatrix Potter homes within the Lake District. Other clients include Coffee and Tea Merchants J Atkinson and co., Crooklands Hotel and Lancashire County Council, as well as many private individuals embarking on new build or refurbishments for their home or business.

The majority of our work - both locally and throughout the North West - comes from personal recommendation from our customers, both commercial and residential and we are proud of the long term relationships we develop with our customers.
